(3) Light in the Dark: My Point of View

For some reason, most of people think that Photoshoped-photo is not eligible to be called ‘photography’. That’s another disappointing truth about people misconception about photography. I’m a self-taught so called ‘photographer’, so I’m not an expert myself but correct me if I’m wrong; 50% of photography is Photo shoot and another 50% is post production. At least that’s what I’ve learn through reading and browsing.

Owh did I ever mention that I don’t own any DSLR? Yeah that’s right. I just have a bridge camera. I think DSLR is so over rated. Of course I want to own one but as a student I can’t afford it. But here I am competing with DSLR.

I’m very lucky that I have some knowledge about Photoshop because people willing to pay thousand to attend Photoshop courses. Crazy amount of money just to learn very basic things.

This is what I think about photography. Photography is like a beautiful model. Photo shoot is the model without makeup and Photoshop (post production) is the makeup. Can the model look good without makeup? Yes. But we will need makeup to get certain look for the model. Will an ugly model look good after make up? Maybe, but need more time with makeup. But too much makeup will ruin the natural look of the model. Get it?

Anyway, this photo is a good example where my housemate said that I photoshoped this photo to get this. That is to untrue. The only photoshoped technique I use here are text and cropping. Yes that’s it. =D
