(5) Make Your Own Blog Badge: Just to Share How

I know that this is something you already know but I was bored and maybe some of you might be interested. I’ll show you how to make my version of badge for your blog. Of course you can make your own design, but I just want to show you how I make this particular design. And later I’ll show you how to use this badge to link it to your blog. Okay, let begin.




*do take note that I skipped some minor steps because I assume that you should already know.

1) For the sake of this tutorial, I’ll make a big badge, so that you can see what’s going on. But, if you want to make yours later on, do choose a descent size.

2) With your Elliptical Marquee Tool, draw a circle with gray (#656565) colour.

3) Add in your picture. I suggest that you use a black and white picture. Then blend it by changing the blending mode to Multiply.

4) By pressing CTRL, click to select on both layers as shown on the figure below. Now press CTRL+E to merge both layers together. You will have 1 layer.

5) Now right click on that merged layer and click Select Layer.

6) Select Gradient.

7)On the Gradient Fill Window, set everything up as shown below. Make sure that the Gradient is Transparent to Black.

8) Make sure that you select on the gradient layer and change the Opacity to 44%.

9) Merge both layer together just like we did in step 4, and go to Filter>Noise>Add Noise.On that Add Noise Window, configure everything up just like I did below.

10) Right click on the layer thumbnail and click Select Pixels again.

11) Make sure that you are selecting your Marquee Tool, and right click on the selected area. Then, click on Stroke.

12) Now configure as follows.

13) Right click on the layer thumbnail and click Select Pixels again.

14) Create a new layer and place it above the previous layer that we work with and change the blending mode to Overlay.

13) Select you brush tool ( Size 400px, Hardness 0%, Opacity 26%), colour the badge with blue (#3fbcef), white (#ffffff) and purple (#67087b) as shown.

15) With your Elliptical Marquee Tool, select an oval as shown and then select gradient.

16) On Gradient Fill Window, set everything up as shown. Make sure that the gradient selected is transparent to white.

17) Change the Opacity to 70%.

18) Now Merge the 3 layers to make it as 1 layer, just like in step 4.

19) As the merged layer selected, go to Layer, Layer Style>Inner Shadow

20) Now add some text and use white as the colour. Then change the blending mode to Overlay.

21) Change the background layer to transparent (click on the eye shape icon)

22) File>Save As and save it as a PNG file. This Format will ensure that the background will remain transparent.

23) Make sure that the interlace is Nono.

24) After you save the badge this is time to use it and generate the codeby uploading it to you blog post editor. Make sure that your editor is viewed using Edit HTML. Upload your picture and you should get the codes just like I have below. Now delete the code as highlighted below.

25) Add in your blog URL and use it as an Embedded Code.
