(4) Malaysia Day: Paddy Field

If you are in our community, it would be such a shame if you mention to anyone that you buy rice from the market. I don’t know about you guys, but my parents or any other of my relatives sees paddy planting as a pride. And you spoiled city people, have you ever experience paddy planting? I know I have, and I even have the skills, which you just can’t help of being jealous. LOL

I was planning to rest for the whole day during the Malaysia day holiday. But 2 days before Malaysia day, my parents kept on reminding me that I have to follow them to the paddy field. So, there I was on 16th September 2010 helping them. And I don’t quite get why my parents want to plant paddy this year because we have like sacks of paddy already. You see, my parents willing to rent a paddy field from somebody no matter how far it is and for sure will spend more on petrol since car don’t fueled-up with water. And if we being such Einstein and calculate all the costs up, it will just come back to square. But I guess it is actually because they enjoy doing it.

Anyhow, I’m glad that I grew up in such living for I know that life was hard and rice doesn’t just cook itself in the rice cooker. So, here are some photos taken during that day.
